When families leave Heshima each night, they go home to unhealthy and unsafe homes. Their homes are extremely small, made of iron sheets that leak constantly; they have no indoor plumbing and are not wheelchair accessible by any means.
Heshima has the opportunity to purchase an acre of land adjacent to their center and build proper housing for their families. They would make this a "ladies only" housing area for their single moms. (90% of their moms are single). Not only would they have running water, a proper toilet and flat surfaces for their wheelchairs... they would also have security from sexual predators, a common danger in the area.
